In recognition of AAPI Heritage Month, we celebrate the histories, culture and contributions of Asian and Pacific Islander communities within our Firm and around the world.
Behind everything we do is a team of exceptional business services professionals whose talent, creativity and dedication continuously strengthen our operations, nurture our culture and enable the Firm’s success. On Staff Appreciation Day last week, we were delighted to recognize and celebrate the people who help make it all possible.
We’re proud to be named one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Culture, Belonging & Community for 2026 by Newsweek. Client service is at the heart of everything we do at Kirkland, and we’re proud to once again earn a spot among the top 30 law firms in The BTI Consulting Group’s “BTI Client Service 30,” as part of its annual “Client Service A-Team” report. This recognition is a testament to our commitment to excellence and delivering extraordinary service that drives exceptional results for our clients.
Kirkland was once again named one of the “Fearsome Foursome” in the BTI Consulting Group’s 2026 Litigation Outlook report — the only firm to have earned this recognition every year since the list’s inception. The Firm was also named a Powerhouse (top 1% of all firms) in class action, complex commercial, intellectual property, product liability and securities and finance litigation. With a global team of nearly 1,200 lawyers, our litigation practice emphasizes trial-readiness to deliver successful results for clients across industries and jurisdictions.
We’re proud to have received the 2025 Pro Bono Partner Award from Disability Rights Legal Center (DRLC) in recognition of our commitment to disability justice and long-standing pro bono partnership with DRLC. The award highlights our work in Harry Langenbacher, et al. v. City of Fullerton, et al, a lawsuit challenging a Fullerton, California, city ordinance that effectively banned people from living in their vehicles without a city-issued permit. Led by partners Matthew Summers and Michael Shipley, Kirkland and the DRLC filed suit in December 2022, alleging the ordinance disproportionately affected people with disabilities and unhoused residents. The team secured a preliminary injunction blocking enforcement of the law, prompting the City to amend it; the case concluded in August 2025 with a substantial attorneys’ fees award to DRLC.
A Kirkland pro bono team worked alongside parents and guardians of Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) students to reach a landmark settlement securing sweeping reforms to support student learning. The settlement — one of the largest education class action settlements in history — delivers critical resources, including millions of hours of high-dose tutoring, to more than 100,000 students from low-income families and disadvantaged communities.
We’re proud to be named a “Beacon of Justice Award” winner for the sixth straight year by the National Legal Aid & Defender Association. In 2025, the award highlighted our extensive pro bono work in support of families.
We were honored to be named to the 2025 “America’s Best Employers for Women” list by Forbes based on an independent survey of more than 140,000 women working for large companies who evaluated topics including our development opportunities, working conditions, flexibility, family support and more.
