We're launching one of Denmark's largest AI projects to date together with Danish State Railways (DSB) the largest train operating company in Scandinavia – ensuring more than 98% of predictions are now closer to reality. Reliable and precise travel information is crucial for train passengers. DSB has tested Netcompany-developed predictive AI and machine learning to improve delay predictions – with promising results. The AI-powered platform delivers more accurate real-time train departure and arrival forecasts. By analysing historical data, the system predicts expected arrival times, even when delays occur. From March, this AI-driven solution will be rolled out nationwide, enhancing accuracy across screens, journey planners, and the DSB app. "Previously, delay forecasts were estimated based on predefined rules rather than real predictions. For example, if a train to Copenhagen was delayed by ten minutes in Ringsted, the system would calculate—based on standard rules—that it would be four minutes late upon arrival in Copenhagen. Machine learning, however, can account for the fact that this specific train, at this particular time, on this exact weekday, typically still arrives six minutes late in Copenhagen," says Emil Marker, Deputy Director for AI Strategy at DSB.”
