What an incredible week we had celebrating South Asian Heritage Month across our London and Limerick offices 🌟 In London we saw Ketan Nagla and Krishan Tank deliver a mesmerizing performance for the audience 🎶 Their event took us on a beautiful journey through the rich musical traditions of India, perfectly aligning with this year’s theme, "Free to Be Me." From classical rhythms to lively Bollywood hits, Ketan and Krishan's talent and passion shone through. We also had a wonderful Mindful Meditation session at our Limerick office, led by Sowparnika Kulandaivei from Himalayan Meditation Ireland. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and made these events the success they were 🌏✨ #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT #SouthAsianHeritageMonth
2024 North America Summer Intern Volunteer Day ⚓ This year's event, on #NationalInternDay, was in partnership with United Way who engage with 1,800 communities across more than 40 countries and territories worldwide and is focused on creating community-based and community-led solutions that strengthen the cornerstones for a good quality of life: education, financial stability, and health. Our Chicago based interns had the opportunity to assemble literacy kits for children affiliated with the New Moms non-profit program which provides housing, job training, academic coaching, and family support for young mothers in Chicago and across the Chicagoland area. We would also like to give a shoutout to our Tempe Interns who got involved on the day and held their own volunteer event which included making cards for Cardz For Kidz. #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
We would like to offer our congratulations to Eleanor Fitzgerald on her significant achievement in winning two medals at the 15th European Nations Dragon Boat Championship with Team Great Britain (GB). Outside of the boat and back on dry land, Eleanor is our Head of Regulatory Risk Management within our global regulatory affairs office based in London. “My team is the GB Senior Women’s Team, and we recently won silver in the 1000-meter race and bronze in the 200-meter Dragon Boating race. It is the first time that there was a standard size (22 crew) women’s boat at senior level and therefore, I am proud to say, these are the first medals GB women have ever won at this level. For me it’s all about fitness, team membership and personal resilience. I first got involved in dragon boating in 2019 when I was posted in Singapore with Northern Trust, so Dragon Boating is a nice way to retain a connection with Asia and its culture.” Dragon Boating explained 🐉🚣♀️ Dragon Boating is an ancient sport which first began in China about 2000 years ago. Fun Fact - Dragon Bating takes place across the globe and there are teams in most countries that we have an office in. #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
What great news for our North America Campus team 🥳 We are so pleased to share that our North America Intern program has been recognized as one of the top 100 internship programs, as announced today by Yello and WayUp. Proud to see the hard work and dedication of the team recognized. They are the ones who make our internship programs the success they are 😊 Internships have become such an important part of our organization and the opportunities they provide for not only students, but for our global teams are endless. On this National Intern Day we would like to thank all of our great interns, past and present, for helping us make this a top 100 intern program. #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT #NationalInternDay
1,634 miles / 2,629 kilometers / 8,627,520 feet 🚴♂️🚴♀️ Last week Northern Trust employees Jeremy Svejdar, David Roberts, Karla Cassar and Eugene Foo led a brave team of volunteers on a 24-hour cycling challenge in our London office. Following a very challenging but fun filled 24 hours, we are delighted to report the team exceeded their target of 1477 miles and covered a total of 1634 miles! The purpose behind the event was to draw attention and awareness to three great charities: • Farleigh Hospice • Cancer Research UK • Save the Children UK Over the course of the 24-hour period, we saw over 80 employees give up their time and join the team in the saddle. We would like to give a special mention and thank you to everyone who came to cycle, to support and who helped promote the event. #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
Back by popular demand, we hosted the 2024 Northern Trust Take Your Child to Work Day (TYCTWD) yesterday across several locations. We were thrilled to see nearly 400 kids aged between 8 and 18 take part in the event, visit our offices, discover what life is like at Northern Trust and learn how we serve the communities we live and work in. We had an action-packed agenda for them on the day. We showcased some of our STEM projects, held a competitive Office Olympics, the kids learned all about Cyber-Security, and heard from several of our teams across the organization. Aligned to Northern Trust’s focus on giving back to the community, each of the attendees designed cards throughout the day to support Cardz For Kidz. As always, the tours throughout the Bank Vault and Command Center really sparked the kids minds on security within our organization and were one of the main highlights on the day. “As they say it takes a village to raise a child, but as a business resource council it is worth all the time and effort in running these events when we see the rewards from initiatives such as this at our organization.” Christy Furtado (Volk), Working Families Business Resource Council Chair. #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
