It is officially summer intern season at Northern Trust 😊 Our 2024 interns are joining multiple Northern Trust offices across North America including Chicago, Naperville, Boston, LA, Dallas, Miami, Coral Gables, Jersey City, New York, Tempe, and Phoenix. Based on the energy and enthusiasm they brought to their first day with us, we can’t wait to see the impact they all make across our business over the coming months. During their orientation, our Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mike O’Grady joined them and had these words of advice for them: “Step up, have confidence and embrace the richness of experiences you can have.” #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
Today, we celebrate service, sacrifice, and selflessness. Wishing everyone a Memorial Day filled with reflection and appreciation for our fallen heroes.
Life at Northern Trust - Stories of our people, culture and work Niall Kirwan moved to Melbourne for a change in lifestyle and to see the sun! Having previously worked in various fund accounting roles, he was familiar with Northern Trust and our core business operations and had heard good things. He soon after landed a job at Northern Trust and started out in our fund accounting team before moving into Investment Operations Outsourcing. “I think Northern Trust’s willingness to support internal movement across the organization allows people to carve their own career path while also helping to retain and motivate staff. If you are willing to push yourself, there are opportunities here.” #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
We would like to highlight and say thanks to our teams in our Limerick and Dublin offices who have turned out this month for their ‘4km Weekly Walks’ which are scheduled throughout the month of May to help raise awareness about heart disease in Ireland. The goal of the ‘Weekly Walks’ is to highlight the statistic that 1 in 4 Women in Ireland succumbs to heart disease and to help emphasize the importance of walking as a preventive measure. This great initiative has been organized by our employee-led Women in Leadership Business Resource Council and is a part of our continued charity partnership with the Irish Heart Foundation. #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
We at Northern Trust are very proud to announce that our very own Michelle Morley has been named one of Arizona's Most Influential Women for 2024 by AZ BIG Media. We believe there is no one who fits the mold of a fearless and accomplished leader like Michelle who exhibits this daily in our Tempe office. ⚓ Michelle’s faith has always been the foundation for everything she does. Whether that be in her personal life or business, she is rooted in the idea that she is blessed beyond measure and that blessing comes with a responsibility to help others. Everyone that she encounters has a story and a purpose, so she views her role as a leader is to highlight those stories and use it to elevate her team and those around her. Congratulations Michelle, we are so happy for you! #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
Last month on Earth Day, Pete Bowker and Daniel Usher trialed brand new e-bikes that the Northern Trust Guernsey team now have readily available for all their team. The e-bikes are a sustainable and alternative solution for staff intraday local commutes, these e-bikes allow traffic-beating routes to meetings and can avail of the abundant parking solutions across the island. “So pleased to have secured the two e-bikes for the Guernsey office. On such a small island, with most meetings held just a ten-minute cycle away, it makes sense to replace the car and taxi journeys we had relied on with these easy-to-use alternatives. Uptake and engagement from the whole team has been positive and I expect this to increase as the weather improves!” Pete Bowker. #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
It’s been a busy few weeks for our teams who have hit the road and had numerous campus visits. Two of these visits included De Paul University and Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago where we held a ‘Meet the Employer’ session and a talk on the Sustainability Landscape. By this time next month, we will be welcoming our 2024 summer interns across several of our North America offices. Can’t wait to meet them! #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
Neurodiversity Awareness Month was recently observed at our offices in India. Our employee led Abilities Business Resource Council organized several events and initiatives locally to raise employee awareness about neurodiversity. ✅ Led by external expert’s employees participated in an Immersive Experience event leveraging experiential learning approaches to foster a deeper understanding and empathy for neurodivergent individuals. ✅ Workshops aimed at challenging stereotypes and equip participants with practical tools to create a more inclusive and supportive workplace. ✅ A panel discussion was held with our employees who are neurodiverse. They bravely shared their experiences and perspectives. ✅ With our larger efforts of giving back to the community and supporting diverse suppliers we partnered with Blue Elephant Soapery, an entrepreneurial venture run by a woman on the autism spectrum to talk about her journey as well as showcase her work to our employees. “We are proud of our continued efforts to foster a culture of inclusion for employees with diverse abilities.” Sachin Singh (Senior Vice President, Global Securities Services). #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
Life at Northern Trust Maryjoce Ann Dator-Ramos’ time at Northern Trust has seen her move from Fund Accounting to Unit Pricing and includes multiple promotions from Technical Coordinator all the way to Second Vice President. Maryjoce also holds the record for becoming the very first person to move permanently from our Manila office to our Melbourne office! Her team boasts a rich diversity, comprising members from various backgrounds where employees are truly encouraged to bring their unique perspectives and ideas. “Northern Trust supports my goals outside the office by promoting a healthy work-life balance and offering flexible work arrangements that allow me to pursue my personal interests and commitments. They also provide resources such as wellness programs, mental health support, adequate time-off per year and professional development opportunities that contribute to my overall well-being and growth.” #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
Volunteers transform the world, which is why every Northern Trust employee can take up to two paid days of service to support their community. Last year, our employees collectively invested over 100,000 hours of service supporting 2,000 global charities. That amounts to an estimated value of $3 million of contributed time in 2023 in the communities where our employees live and work. As we wrap up Global Volunteer Month and celebrate the 50th year of National Volunteer week, we applaud everyone who generously gives their time to make a positive impact. #NVW #NTGivesBack
