The Gate Clerk is responsible for inspecting trailers, chassis, and containers that enter and leave the intermodal rail yard through an automated gate system. The Gate Clerk will utilize a computer system to ensure proper billing is performed on each unit and will provide customer service support to over-the-road truck drivers entering and leaving the rail yard.
Chassis & Trailer Repair Mechanic Summary: Chassis & Trailer Repair Mechanics are charged with repairing containers, trailers, and chassis. Repair & Replacement work includes but is not limited to, containers, lights, tires, landing legs, brakes, and framework. Responsibilities: Conducts routine/scheduled maintenance on railroad leased/owned containers and chassis Repairs equipment by railroad, IEP, manufacturer & FMCSA guidelines Documents repairs according to an established reporting system Repairs tires, brakes, lights, landing leg and framework Performs light welding when required Other duties as assign Qualifications: • Ability to lift 50lbs or more • Open availability (24/7/365) • Applicants must be available to work holidays that fall on their rotation • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions • Must have own hand tools • Valid Driver’s License • Must be willing to submit a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check and meet the requirements.
Crane or Lift Equipment Mechanics repair and maintain overhead cranes, side loaders, and chassis stackers by performing preventative and emergency maintenance. Duties include identifying problems, performing inspections, doing maintenance work, ordering and replacing parts, running computerized tests, estimating repair costs, updating repair records, and writing technical reports.
Summary: A load planner will work with management and operation team members to plan trains based on established loading and unloading schedules while utilizing a computer application to perform the planning per the railroad procedures. Responsibilities: • Verifies inbound units on incoming trains and pre-plans the outbound units to be loaded on the train. • Will research and fix issues with container status to ensure proper handling. • Utilizes the computer system to ensure proper containers are planned for the specific railcars while also planning outbound destinations for railcars. • Complete reports to show yard status and planning. • Provide yarding instructions for train crews. • Provides a daily email to give an overview of all activity performed by the crew in the yard.
Summary: Diesel Truck Mechanics will have previous working knowledge of air brake systems, diesel engine diagnostics using Insite, hydraulic systems, electronic controls, electrical circuitry, schematics, and a basic knowledge of diesel engine repair. Responsibilities: • Follow a checklist of inspection procedures • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment • Test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions • Read and interpret diagnostic test results from diagnostic equipment such as Cummins Insite • Raise trucks, and heavy parts or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, and other parts of vehicles • Do routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and parts • Adjust and align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and attach system components • Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment Qualifications: • Ability to lift 50lbs • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions • Valid Driver’s License • Possess personal tools to perform light to medium repairs • Experience with maintaining heavy equipment in either the Construction, Transportation, or Intermodal Industry • Mi-Jack or Taylor Manufacture Brand experience is a plus. • Performs light welding when required • Other duties as assigned • Must be willing to complete a drug screen, physical,
Once all training has been completed as a Ground Person and Hostler Driver, this position is responsible for: •Directing crane operators with loading and unloading cargo containers from the railcars. •Preparing railcars for loading and unloading containers by removing and installing IBC locks. •Hauling containers from the rail track to other areas of the intermodal yard for outside driver pickup. •Moving trailers and chassis with containers on them to various locations in the rail yard as they are loaded and unloaded to and from the train. •Completing all responsibilities safely and efficiently.
