During the 2023-2024 school year, 745 CHS students participated in Work Based Learning (WBL) experiences to include Apprenticeships, Clinical Experiences, Externships, Internships, Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE,) Service Learning, and School-Based Enterprises. To date, out of the 18 students who participated in the 40-hour Externship experience, 7 have been offered full-time positions after graduation. Abigail Taylor is our first student accepted into the Apprenticeship program at Sheehy Ford of Ashland. She has been enrolled in the Automotive program for the past two years. When asked about her experience with Sheehy Ford, she commented that the “entire team at Sheehy Ford has been welcoming and ready to help her grow her career pathway in the Automotive field." Automotive teacher, Mr. Johnson, has worked with Abigail and has watched her grow in her abilities and skills and states, “Watching Abigail grow from a Tech I student to a Tech II and complete Tech III level work is an amazing experience."
