Last week marked a heartwarming beginning as we welcomed the first patients into our new community of homes—donated to those undergoing treatment at Banner Health's MD Anderson Cancer Center. This community is designed to provide temporary housing and financial assistance to patients who travel to receive care in Gilbert, AZ. Located within walking distance of the cancer center, these homes eliminate the need for travel and hotel expenses, housing 80 patients and their families each year.
For the second consecutive year, Taylor Morrison has been recognized by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption as an ‘Adoption Advocate.’ Our commitment to enhancing family life for our team members continues to grow. Over the years, we've expanded our adoption benefits, providing financial assistance to team members looking to adopt. We're proud to play a role in supporting our team members' journey to expand their families.
Our Raleigh Division recently held a special event at a local high school, aimed at ushering more talent into the industry. The school has a robust construction department that participates in division, regional and national tournaments. In 2023, the all-girl team took home first place in building. The school's construction teacher, Mr. Collins, shared “This story illustrates the kind of partnership and outreach that has the potential to be life changing for our students.” Next up, the team is planning an on-site field trip to our Bridgeberry community for students to gain experience in new-home construction.
Each month, team members from around the country gather for our virtual Days of Understanding. May's session was centered around inclusive leadership, to help team members identify the traits necessary to include, motivate and inspire others. Because of sessions like these, we’ve seen our DEIB metrics improve over the last year. Based on 349 anonymous employee ratings, our workplace was rated 4.5 out of five stars on Glassdoor when it comes to employees feeling included, heard and offered the same opportunities. This is 26.8 percent higher than the average for ratings in the Construction, Repair and Maintenance Services sector. We are proud of our progress and remain committed to fostering a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered.
We are immensely proud of our Charlotte Division, who claimed the coveted TM Cup and therefore has been crowned Division of the Year. This national companywide contest rigorously evaluates divisions on key metrics including quality, safety, team member experience, customer experience, and more, and the team has proven themselves unbeatable in every aspect. Congratulations are also in order for our Tampa Division, who secured the No. 2 spot, and our Houston Division, recognized as the 'Most Improved' Division from March through December 2023. 🙌
Earlier this month, we celebrated our strongest performers in Sales and Financial Services (ACES), Construction (ROCKSTARS) and Warranty (HEROs) at our National Awards Ceremony. Despite volatile market conditions and consumer skepticism last year, our Community Sales Managers found a way to sell. Through it all, and alongside our Financial Services teams, they offered peace of mind and eased customers into homeownership, leveraging our tools, tapping into their creative sides and leading with empathy. On the Construction and Warranty sides of the house, our teams went above and beyond to deliver incredible homes while taking care of our customers with so much heart. Thank you for your dedication to Taylor Morrison and our customers!
Each year, we recognize team members across the organization for our TMLiving Award. Unlike other awards within the company, this one isn’t centered around specific categories like sales goal and customer satisfaction. We simply seek out those who embody the feeling of TMLiving, who love our customers in each and every interaction and who are the perfect representation of everything Taylor Morrison stands for. This year, we selected six team members who are extraordinary examples of our culture in action. Congratulations to this incredible group of team members.
Our Denver Reserve at Looking Glass team recently left a thoughtful housewarming gift for our buyers. Superintendent II Christian Geist collected signatures on a hardhat from the Taylor Morrison team members and trades that worked on the buyer's home. He also included a couple of toy trucks, plus some TM merch to add to the haul. Check out the cute pic below of our future Superintendent, Cam, who was especially excited for the surprises.
Our leader Sheryl Palmer became the CEO of Taylor Morrison in 2007, at the height of the housing crisis. Since then, she's grown the company from $2 billion in annual revenue to $8.2 billion. Her 17 years as CEO means she’s far outlasted the average 4.5-year tenure of Fortune 500 chiefs who are women and the seven-year tenure of Fortune 500 CEOs who are men. “Today, it’s about getting back to the basics and understanding what the customer needs and delivering it,” Sheryl says. “The days of ‘build it, they will come,’ I don’t really subscribe to.” You can learn more about Sheryl in the story below.
Our Jacksonville Division recently partnered with Builders Care to build a ramp for an amputee in the community. Team members involved in the project shared that they were grateful to have the opportunity to help, and hopeful that this will allow the couple to get back outside easily. We are proud of our Jacksonville Team for their compassion and dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
