Thanks to the support and dedication of our associates, this year’s Veterans Day events were a meaningful tribute to those who have served. UNFI is all in for celebrating the diversity, love, and resilience within the LGBTQ+ community while creating equitable and accessible pipelines for UNFI associates, suppliers, and community partners. Pride is an opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community and allies to come together for advocacy and support to stand in solidarity to celebrate inclusion, identity, and the unwavering spirit of the LGBTQ+ community. We look forward to marching in the Providence, RI, and Twin Cities, MN, PRIDE parades later this month!
UNFI celebrated opening a new distribution center in Manchester, PA! The center is designed to support our customers’ growth and enhance the overall associate experience. During the ceremony, we also announced a new partnership with the Central Pennsylvania Foodbank to support our shared goal of combating hunger in the region. Thank you to all the associates, community partners, and state and local elected officials who helped make the grand opening a success.
UNFI just announced the launch of the UNFI Retail Media Network (UMN) for independent grocery retailers across the United States. This new platform has been created and deployed in partnership with Swiftly, a leading innovative retail technology, tools, and solutions provider. UMN’s primary goal is to bring cutting-edge solutions to UNFI’s extensive network of retail customer locations, helping them compete in an increasingly digital-first world. The new platform will also empower retailers to purposefully connect with their customers and generate new revenue streams driving their growth. Sandy Douglas, UNFI’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), highlighted, “UNFI’s partnership with Swiftly is formidable, offering a turn-key solution to power both enterprise and independent grocer technology and retail media. UMN enables UNFI’s retail customers and suppliers to better compete in today’s retail marketplace, with an increasingly digital focus. We believe UMN, powered by Swiftly, will help us create compelling and sustainable value for our customers, suppliers, and shareholders.”
Giving back is one of the many ways our UNFI associates have been making a difference this year. Throughout the month, our associates took part in our Earth Month Campaign, which encouraged people to volunteer 3,000 hours and give back to their local communities. In recognition of #NationalVolunteerMonth, we express our gratitude towards our teams across the U.S. and Canada for coming together and volunteering. Our associates dedicated 14,646 hours in FY23 alone and are continuing that progress within FY24. We are grateful to everyone who participated in National Volunteer Month and encourage them to continue their good work in the coming year.
Happy Women’s History Month! By celebrating women’s achievements and contributions, we inspire future generations to strive for greatness regardless of historical gender constructs. This month is a time to refocus our commitment to striving for gender equity while empowering and amplifying the voices of female colleagues, friends, and peers. #InspireInclusion
Let’s give thanks to the backbone of our communities! This Supermarket Employee Day, we want to share our appreciation to all associates who keep our stores stocked with essentials that fuel our communities daily—working diligently to be a valuable support system to our communities when in need. Thank you for everything you do!
This week, UNFI successfully wrapped up its second Spring & Summer Show of the year in Orlando, FL. Over two days, more than 6,200 attendees, 740 suppliers, and 3,360 customers from the U.S. East and Central regions connected with UNFI’s extensive supplier networks, learning the latest retail trends and solutions for conventional, fresh, natural, and organic products on the market. “Customers came seeking deals for their shoppers, and suppliers were willing to accommodate them,” said UNFI East Region President, Kelly Sosa. “The breadth of customers, from single-store operators to national chains, coupled with the range of suppliers, created a great show energy and a win-win atmosphere, and proves why in-person shows are so valuable.” #UNFIOrlando #ONEUNFI #BetterForyourGrowth #Suppliers #Customers #Network
