Meet Jenny, a mechanical engineer in our Whiting Refinery, US! 👋 Jenny’s been with bp two-and-a-half years and was initially attracted to the company’s renewable energy initiatives. 🌏 Following a week-long ‘sophomore experience’ and internship, she accepted a full-time position in 2021. 🥳️ So, what does Jenny love about bp Whiting? “It’s the sixth largest refinery in the US, and one of the oldest, so there’s history,” she says. “There’s lots of interesting equipment with a backstory too, which I don’t think you’d get in other refineries.” 🏭 And the culture? “The people are so kind and willing to help,” she says. “I feel supported both as a woman and someone from a minority background. I don’t have a lot to compare it to, but I don’t think anything could ever beat this.” 💚 Visit our website and discover engineering careers at bp 👈 https://www.bp.com/en/global/corporate/careers.html #lifeatbp

Meet Dessi – a bp graduate civil engineer in Jakarta. 👷♂️ “I’m in the process, safety and integrity squad,” she says. “My task is to support and learn all civil and structural integrity issues at the Tangguh LNG site.” 🚧 So what’s her day-to-day look like? “Each week's task varies from calculating structural loads, helping to design and modify structures and preparing work pack civil and structure reports,” she says. 📈📐📖 And how does she relax? “I do fun activities to relieve myself from work, such as the bp choir,” she says. “We perform at various events at the office!” 🎶 Want to work for a company where your voice is heard? Meet Gaurav. Gaurav works at our US Whiting refinery.👋 He has just completed his first rotation as a unit maintenance engineer for the wastewater plant as part of our early careers program. As well as studying towards a Master’s in engineering management, he is about to start his next bp placement in hydro-processing. 👨🎓 “The technical requirements will be fairly similar to the first rotation,” he says. “What is going to be significantly different is the level of responsibility as well as the level of consequence for my actions. There is more risk, but also a lot of support that goes with that.” 👷 When Gaurav has the opportunity, he likes to take part in bp Inclusia activities – a business resource group for Asian and Pacific Islanders, open to all bp employees and contractors. 💛💚 “Research shows, across Asian and Pacific Islander-identifying employees in the workplace, that there's a leadership gap across many industries,” he says. “I want to see if I can do something about that at my site. I’m working with the core team on getting more professional development resources available to help give others the chance to have greater visibility, as well as raising cultural awareness.” 🌠 If you want visibility and a voice at work, find out more about the opportunities available at bp on our careers website. https://on.bp.com/4ajGdmN 👈
“They call a refinery a chemical engineer’s playground so I had to see for myself when the opportunity for an internship at bp came up.” 🎡 Meet Emily. She admits she was “a bit sceptical” about joining the oil industry, but wanted to form her own opinions. Now a process engineer, she’s been working in the Whiting Refinery, US, for almost five years. 🧑🔬 “I knew that an internship with bp would accelerate my learning while I was a student,” she says. “It was an opportunity to apply what I learned in school to the real world, and that was exciting to me.”🧑🎓 🌎 So what’s a typical day like for Emily? “A mixture of structure and chaos!” she says. “Some days I work on engineering solutions to long standing problems. Other days I work on tools to help predict equipment deficiencies before they bite us. But each day is a new adventure and poses a new challenge!” 👷♂️🛠 If you’re looking for a role where no two days are the same, check out our careers page. 👈 https://on.bp.com/4ajGdmN #lifeatbp
