This week we were proud to support Changemakers Night, during the game between the Minnesota Lynx and the Phoenix Mercury. Changemakers is a first-of-its-kind venture focused on building the next generation of female leaders and elevating women’s sports in Minnesota. nVent was an inaugural partner of the program, which launched last year. The night ended perfectly, with the Lynx bringing home a W. Congratulations!
We recently celebrated the addition of 140,000 square feet of data center solutions production space to our Anoka, Minnesota location. This investment increases our liquid cooling solutions capacity by 4x and creates more than 100 new jobs. We have been a proud member of the Anoka community for nearly 80 years and are delighted many of our neighbors joined us yesterday. Thank you to Anoka Mayor Erik Skogquist for delivering remarks during the celebration. We are excited to continue to invest in this community, while building the future of a more sustainable and electrified world.
Last week, our Veterans Employee Resource Group mobilized five nVent teams to support the Flying Flags For Heroes program. Flying Flags For Heroes aims to place one million flags to honor all veterans laid to rest in national and local cemeteries. nVent employees and their families helped plant flags in cemeteries in Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, North Carolina and Ohio. We were grateful for the opportunity to work alongside community partners, such as local scout troops and other companies, to honor those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, particularly those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
In honor of Earth Day, our Grass Roots Employee Resource Group held several impactful volunteer events all over the world. From tree planting to beach cleanups, our teams made a significant impact throughout the month. Overall, 217 people volunteered at 10 different nVent sites globally. They collected more than 1,000 pounds of trash and planted more than 200 trees in our communities. Recently, we hosted the ROBOAS robotics team from the National College Andrei Saguna in Brasov, at our Brasov, Romania manufacturing site. FIRST is the world's leading youth-serving nonprofit advancing STEM education. The nVent Foundation sponsors FIRST competitions all over the world, and many of our people volunteer with FIRST in their communities. This team of talented high school students represented Romania in the recent international FIRST Robotics Tech Challenge.
