Role Outline
The Team Leader – Inbound is responsible for supervising day to day inbound warehouse operations to ensure all receiving, putaway, inventory accuracy, and KPI requirements are consistently achieved. This role ensures that the inbound team operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with DHL operational standards, customer SLAs, and WMOS system processes
Key areas of responsibility include:

Oversee all inbound activities including receiving, checking, staging, and putaway

Ensure all deliveries are received in WMOS accurately and within required timeframes

Monitor and manage pending putaways, ensuring zero pending tasks at close of business

Allocate work in WMOS (directed putaway) and ensure correct task execution by team members

Ensure accurate use of RF scanners, system confirmations, and WMOS processes
-
Coordinate with Inventory, Outbound, and Planning teams for smooth operational flow

Lead, coach, and supervise a team of warehouse associates/operators

Conduct daily floor briefings, allocating labour according to workload

Monitor performance, conduct on-the-job training, and uplift team skills in WMOS and operational processes

Manage attendance, discipline, and adherence to company policies and procedures

Promote a positive, performance driven culture aligned to DHL values

Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs are achieved

Receiving productivity (lines/pallets per hour)

Putaway completion rates
-
Dock-to-stock turnaround time

Inventory accuracy

Rack team performance metrics and provide daily reports to management

Ensure compliance with customer requirements and operational SLAs

Identify root causes for underperformance and implement corrective actions

Enforce DHL safety standards, PPE compliance, and safe material handling practices

Conduct daily safety checks, toolbox talks, and risk assessments
Qualifications/ Skills/Competencies/Experiences

Matric (Grade 12) Essential
- Computer Literacy
- Overall knowledge of the Health & Safety function
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, motivation and planning skills
- Ability to work within a pressurized environment
- Ability to follow work procedures and safety rules
- Ability to read, understand and follow directions/instructions
- Good analytical, Administrative & Communication skills
