Overview
The Cement Hauler is responsible for safely transporting between manufacturing plants or terminals to batch plants or other customer locations. This position ensures accurate and timely delivery while adhering to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Duties include inspecting and maintaining the truck, operating loading and unloading equipment, and keeping accurate delivery records. Work hours may vary based on customer needs and delivery schedules.
Pay range/shift differential: Pay: $34.78 + quarterly incentives.
Shift time/days: M-F 2am - 4am start time and you will be working 10-14 hrs a day. You will have to work some Saturdays depending on business needs
This position requires working outdoors and in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
Cities Covered: Start and Finish in Magna all loads will be local
Role & Responsibilities:
- Operate Asphalt Distributor: Safely and efficiently operate the asphalt distributor truck, including the application of asphalt emulsion to road surfaces.
- Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of the vehicle before and after each shift to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
- Material Handling: Manage and monitor the asphalt distribution process, ensuring the correct amount and consistency of asphalt is applied.
- Maintain Equipment: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on the asphalt distributor truck to keep it in optimal working condition.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe driving practices.
- Documentation: Complete required paperwork, including daily logs, maintenance records, and delivery tickets.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with construction crews, project managers, and other team members to coordinate work and meet project deadlines.
- Customer Service: Represent the company professionally on job sites, ensuring high standards of workmanship and client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL): Valid CDL A with the appropriate Tanker endorsements for operating an asphalt distributor truck.
- Experience: Prefer 1-2 years of CDLA driving experience.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with asphalt application techniques, road construction procedures, and safety regulations.
- Skills: Strong driving skills with the ability to maneuver large vehicles safely. Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work long hours and handle physical demands of the job, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
