OMNI Youth Services is the premier youth services agency in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and beyond. We have an excellent opportunity for a Prevention Specialist - Health Educator based in the Champaign/Central Illinois area. This position will work with our ILHPP.org team to educate and bring awareness to adolescent youth, parents and influential adults about the Human Performance Project, The Prescription Playbook and their core principles. HPP has a core message of healthy lifestyle choices and positive leadership development to empower students in healthy decision making that lead to optimal performance in all aspects of life and living.
This position will work with the community and school personnel to develop mutually beneficial training and programs for teens, parents, and school staff members. This position will use methods and instruments for collecting valid and reliable quantitative and qualitative data, plan and implement training opportunities, outreach, and technical assistance, and message distribution through email, social media, website, and trainings, report on the program performance, and apply strategies for continuous quality improvement.
The ideal candidate will be able to work comfortably with a wide range of people, including youth, parents, school administrators, and community leaders. The candidate must possess the desire to be team-oriented and a solid belief in experiential learning. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to change are critical.
Essential responsibilites:
- Assist with coordination of coalition and/or school meetings and activities.
- Meet with school and community groups to introduce OMNI programs, services, and initiatives, representing OMNI and the Coalitions.
- Market and facilitate evidence-based education programs and communication campaigns in three settings: middle school, high school, and community.
- Assist with recruitment and facilitation of youth leadership programs and school prevention teams.
- Assist update community resource assessments annually.
- Develop and implement a strategic data driven school/community specific prevention education communication campaign following best practices.
- Implementation of youth prevention education programs virtually or in school in accordance with best practices and program deliverables.
- Ensure the agency is meeting goals, fulfilling grant obligations and deliverables related to the approved work plan.
- Maintain records of all participating youth, community partners and volunteers; maintain current information in databases; and complete required reports monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Monitor and ensure that all required program reports are completed and delivered in a timely manner (i.e. implantation plans, IYS recruitment, student enrollment forms entered in monthly, quarterly, rosters, attendance, fidelity reports, annual reports).
- Promote OMNI counseling and resource center programming.
- Complete required training(s) within a year.
- Provide positive leadership through the support of growth and encouragement of peers.
- Perform other duties which may be assigned to support the finance’s or agency’s mission.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required skills:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in public health, marketing, education, human services or a related field is required.
- Proven leadership and project management experience a must (professional or volunteer).
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations with multi- or inter-disciplinary colleagues, implement effective prevention strategies with fidelity, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted through the course of work, write clearly and concisely, effectively speak publicly when conducting presentations and/or facilitating meetings, work independently under limited supervision and organize multiple work assignments, collect and report on work as required by the Department, when needed.
- Candidate must have a valid driver's license, access to a car, and the ability to lift and transport program materials required, and be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Creativity, design, and marketing skills are a plus. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and/or Adobe Suite) and use of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).
Desired skills:
- Self-disciplined project management, event planning, design, and website development.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish is preferred..

Work location
Location: Optimal that candidate reside in central Illinois. 50% remote work from home, 50% travel in mid and southern Illinois to area schools and community partners. Travel to the OMNI offices in the Northwest Chicago suburbs is ocassionally required. Travel is reimbursed at current federal rate.
