The company distributes and supports products related to security, thin-client and server-based computing, network management, virtualization, and wireless networking. Marketing to value-added resellers, the company supplies products from vendors such as Blue Coat Systems, Citrix Systems, Novell, and VMware. Alternative Technology was founded in 1986. It was acquired by Arrow Electronics in 2006; in late 2007 Arrow transferred its software distribution business to Alternative Technology.
