Ångstrom Engineering has an eye for detail. The company, named for a unit of measurement equivalent to the size of one atom, designs and makes custom vacuum systems and thin-film deposition equipment for use in research laboratories and industrial manufacturing. Ångstrom's systems are designed for manufacturing such products as flat-panel displays, organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), photovoltaic components, and semiconductors. Other applications include nanotechnology, materials science, and aerospace testing. It also produces related subassemblies and components. Customers include NASA, Nortel, and the University of Texas. President and founder Andrew Bass started the company in 1992.
