The company touts its software tools as halving the usual time it takes to transform a basic chip concept into a finished product. CoWare's design software and related services allow chip engineers to evaluate different chip architectures, then design and verify complex system-on-a-chip (SoC) integrated circuits. Customers have included Alcatel, Fujitsu, Motorola, Nokia, Sony, STMicroelectronics, and Toshiba. The company's investors include the Belgium-based Interuniversity Microelectronics Center (IMEC) -- from which CoWare spun off in 1996 -- and venture capital firm Greylock Management.
