Decru provides network security appliances used to encrypt and secure data for universities, government agencies, and corporations. Its DataFort platform incorporates a Storage Encryption Processor hardware engine developed by the company. Decru's products can be used with both storage area networks (SANs) and network-attached storage (NAS) deployments. The company works with a number of data storage vendors, such as EMC, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi Data Systems, IBM, McDATA, and Quantum. Decru's clients include Dartmouth College, the Tokyo Broadcasting System, and the City of Verona, Italy. The company was founded in 2001. NetApp acquired Decru for about $260 million in cash and stock in 2005.
