For Ecotricity, if the question is how to combine electricity with ecology, then the answer is blowing in the wind. The company is a top green energy provider for retail customers in the UK, promising to match the prices of local suppliers in each area in which it operates. Ecotricity develops wind farms and in 2010 it had 15 facilities in operation (with 51 wind turbines, generating 52 MW of power) and several others in planning or construction phases. When its 19 facilities under development are completed, the company's total capacity (220 MW) will serve up to 183,000 homes, and save some 370,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions a year.
