By Hewden's report, it is the largest UK rental company for construction machinery (bulldozers, excavators, dumpers, compaction equipment, compressors, excavators, power generation, and cranes). The company also provides contract management services. It primarily serves customers in the construction industry through more than 100 UK locations. It is a subsidiary of Canadian equipment distributor Finning International. To revise Hewden's product line, Finning sold the tool rental portion of Hewden's business in 2007 to fellow UK tool rental outfit Speedy Hire for $230 million; in 2008 it sold its hoist business to HTC Plant.
