The InterTech Group likes to interweave a wide variety of technology-driven manufacturing businesses with other activities, such as business services (image marketing, financial transaction services) and entertainment. The group, a holding company with more than 100 businesses worldwide, puts its primary focus on plastics and fiber products, including industrial protective wear and fabrics used by firefighters and astronauts (through its PBI Performance Products subsidiary). InterTech's RemGrit unit makes knives, saw blades, and various handheld tools. The company was founded in 1978 by the late Jerry Zucker, who in 2006 led the acquisition of Canada's Hudson's Bay Company, and is still owned by his family.
