After four generations, James Halstead is still flooring it. Founded in 1915, the company operates through a group of businesses that manufactures, markets, and distributes name brand flooring. Its portfolio of brands, including Polyflor, Voyager, Kudos, and Expona, coupled with acquisitions in Europe and Asia, have driven growth. Customers are in the commercial and contract markets, such as hospitals, pubs, prisons, and schools, as well as the consumer home improvement sector. James Halstead is well known in the UK, Europe and Scandinavia, and Australasia and Asia; about two-thirds of group sales are made outside the UK. The Halstead family owns more than half of the company and its employees, more than 10%.
