Descrição When all the assembly is assembled, they get down to work making laws for the state. The Wisconsin State Assembly's 99 members are elected to two-year terms; the Speaker is their leader. Legislative sessions begin in January of odd-numbered years and last for two years. During session, the Assembly debates and enacts laws and provides legislative oversight of the executive branch. Other parts of the legislative branch include the Senate and support staff and service agencies like the Legislative Audit Branch, the Legislative Technology Services Bureau, and the Revisor of Statutes Bureau. The Assembly shares a $70 million budget with its counterpart, the Senate.
