First a screening call with HR, 30min call to assess suitability, and then a longer and more technical telephone interview with the hiring manager. This was set up quickly (within a couple of weeks). I was asked to come up with relatively complex SQL queries on the spot without access to reference material (i.e. check syntax etc). Code had to be entered within a fairly limited time, on an interactive text session, and had to run correctly. I found this was disingenuous and not a true representation of whether a candidate knows how to problem solve or add value in a BI context. Cordial but did not ask me back, and probably wouldn't have enjoyed that type of management style anyway.

I applied through the Amazon career website. Then recruiter reached me out via email. I had a short call with him where he explained the process, no questions asked. Then I had a call with the linear manager. SQL part was 1 or 2 easy questions. Then she asked me 1-2 behavior questions, I don't think I did well, but she decided to push me to the final round (the loop) and asked to prepare. I was preparing for a couple of fixes and ended up with 30 STAR stories from my experience. On the loop day, I had 5 online calls with different people. During this 5 calls I received around 12-15 behavior questions — make sure to prepare A LOT of stories, you'll need them. Also, I got 3 SQL questions, all easy. And 1-2 visualization tasks (look at this graph and tell me how you would improve it). Overall, all the people were very smart and interesting to talk to. Unfortunately, due to Amazon policy, there is no feedback so I don't know what was the no-offer reason/reasons.
