A recruiter contacted me through hired.com. The first step is a 45 minute phone conversation. The recruiter will ask a bit about your experience, what technologies you work with, which ones you’re interested in, etc. Also, be prepared to talk about why you’re looking to leave your current company (if applicable) and why Capital one interests you. After that, the recruiter goes on about the history of Capital One and the direction they’re going in. Then, they discuss compensation with you. I was told that my current salary/expectations has no effect on what they will offer. Overall, it was a fairly low pressure conversation. Next is a coding assignment. 70 minutes with 4 questions (although it’s unexpected that you’ll get to all 4). You have to share your screen, camera, and microphone the whole time and also take a picture of your ID. I recommend getting familiar with the IDE beforehand. It has some code completion but it had trouble with import statements for some reason. Candidates aren’t supposed to reveal the exact questions but I advise that you know your way around a 1D and 2D array. You can also use scrap paper but I doubt you’ll have time to write anything down.
