This is a long and tedious process for even the most seasoned professionals to endure. There is a lot of competition and they let you know this throughout the process. A lot of this discussion is guiding you along the way as well as being of benefit to the firm in terms of the 'weeding out' process that they all go through. People in the process are friendly but there are a lot of questions to be answered to get through it. Be prepared for excess time to be used. Have your mind organized about what you want to do with your life before calling or filling out the first box of an application though. This is a thorough process that will be life changing and requires both sides to be honest and diligent regarding the facts.

Define why you are a good match for our company. This was difficult since I was never employed in the private sector, let alone securities dealers, prior to this. The response formulation needed to come from overall experience. That was their purpose in my mind.

Interview process first consists of numerous dinner events, all very laid back where you get to learn more about the company and the advisors in the region, and they get to learn more about you. If you keep getting invited back to dinners, consider it progress in the interview process. Honestly, the best, most effective interview process.

it's a series of interviews with people in the office then a full-day of simulating the role of the advisor where you're receiving calls from clients and team mates as well as receiving emails. As a career-changer, this was the part of the interview phase where I realized Edward Jones wasn't the right start to my career as a financial advisor and ended up going somewhere that invested in my growth rather than a "sink or swim" type of place.
