I sent my resume for an opening position posted on the corporate website. I was called to schedule an interview. I had the interview with HR representative and two hiring managers. They explained to me the company business and structures (product lines, sites, departments structure) and the kind of job they had openings for. They asked me about my education, experience, interests, etc...and said they would call me back.
