I first talked to a company rep at a campus job fair. A few weeks later, I applied to a posting via the campus system and also on their online website. A few weeks later, the posting closed. Then, I received an email asking me if I would like to schedule an interview. I did. The interview itself was on campus and lasted an hour. The questions were pretty standard: describe your strengths/weaknesses, tell me about your research, how have you demonstrated creativity in and outside of your workplace, what type of work would you like to do, etc. The interviewer was very nice and seemed impressed by who I had worked with. In the end, he told me they did not have any positions in my area, which was why he kept asking what I wanted to do. I am annoyed, to say the least. Why post a specific posting for a chemist on a campus with a very high rank in analytical chemistry if you have no openings?!?!?!?
