I had initially interviewed for an AE position, which consisted of a phone screen with the Recruiting Manager, an on-site interview with 3 people (GM, Sales Manager, VP of Sales), and then a panel pitch/role play interview. After the panel pitch I received feedback from the Recruiting Manager that my skillset and industry knowledge could potentially benefit the team more in the Operations Manager role, so she asked if I’d be interested in interviewing for that role. The on-site interview for the Operations Manager role consisted 30 minutes interviews with four people (Data Ops Associate, Ops Manager, Director of Accounts, GM). The interviews consisted of a case study based on a scenario dealing with onboarding a new client, as well as several behavioral questions to get an understanding of my management style/experience. The entire process was very thorough and well executed from communication with the recruiting team, office manager, and the hiring team (both on-site and via video conference). I can tell that Flexport does a great job of ensuring candidates are a fit for the role from an experience and culture perspective. All 7 of the people that I met with during the interview process were a great representation of the brand and I really enjoyed meeting with them. The only part of the process that I wish I had received better feedback on was the reason why they did not extend and offer. The feedback that I received was that they didn’t feel I had enough experience managing a team, but in my final interview I was asked to review that piece with one of the team members and their response was that I had a lot of experience managing teams. Overall this was a really insightful experience for me. I was really impressed by the Flexport team and I’m excited to see the positive impact that they have on the Freight Forwarding industry.
