Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 2 meses. Fui entrevistado pela Genentech (South San Francisco, CA) em ago. de 2013
Entrevista
The hiring process consisted of first speaking with an outside agency who is not a part of Genentech. It was a bit odd because it felt like talking to a computer recording instead of a person. I suspect that they receive so many resumes, that this is a way in which to cut down the group to a manageable size. With that said, it seemed very cold and impersonal. The next step was to speak with a manager who was a former Genentech employee. These two steps were done via phone. I'm assuming the next step is an on-site interview which I haven't gotten to yet.

The questions were all very specific, wanting to have an example of when you did something that indicated you had a competency in a certain area. They also asked more general questions such as wanting to know a time when you had to make a quick decision with little data, etc.... Most all questions had that style and you need to answer them with the STAR format (situation, task, action, and result)

Applied online, after about a month got a call for phone screen, first phone is by third party and lasts around 45 mins, they try to capture your experience in detail.Your conversation is recorded and you may be asked to repeat if its unclear . Second phone screen was a technical interview this happened almost 4 weeks after 1st one and discussion was around relevant examples from past experience.
Having relavant examples helps.

First round of the interview process was over the phone with a sub contracted phone screener. Try not to let this part throw you off- it was a bit strange as she typed my words verbatim, often asking to go back and repeat myself. While she was friendly, this is not an opportunity to learn more about the job. It is more of an opportunity for Genentech to get a better understanding of qualifications. To be honest, I found this part quite impersonal, but at such a large company I can see the necessity. Most questions were fit, but be ready to provide several concrete examples.
