The entire process is much like you would expect (Email correspondence, phone screening, face-to-face with the recruiter, in person office visit, and final review). They are really big on finding the right employee for the company and culture. The whole process took about 3-4 weeks, mainly because the new director was hired in the middle of the process. I am sure the process is intended to take about 2 weeks, but I started at a transitional time for NDN.
The recruiter, who is no longer with the company (completed his contract), was great and related well to most of the people he was reaching out [I knew a couple of them]. Correspondence was quick and informative. The only thing that was weird about the face-to-face was he didn't buy my coffee. It's not a big deal, but when reaching out to candidates it's definitely a nice gesture. I did ask the recruiter about the Glassdoor reviews, as they are not that great (2.6). He said there were a lot of bitter people who were fired or left after a recent reorganization. The company was very flat and then brought in department heads and VPs. If you look most of the poor reviews date from Jan-Mar, which matched his explanation.
I flew past the first couple of stages and went in for an in person within about 8 business days. Their office is located on Lenox in Buckhead so it was a traffic filled day. Once I got to the office everything went really smooth. I met with several current employees and leads. However, the highlight of the process was speaking with Mimi, VP People. Her insights and observations are astonishing. I could sit and talk to her all day, and wish I could. She is one of the main reasons I was sold on this job and company. This is where the process slowed due the new director, Stephanie, being hired. I had several conversations with Stephanie and was excited about the possibility of working with her. The vision and path she had for NDN was right up my alley.
I was offered the job. I had a counter-offer from my previous employer and NDN didn't budge. They are not in the habit to change their initial offer. I was kind of surprised by the response I got when I told them about the other offer, basically "take it or leave it". In the end, the AM role offered more growth and opportunity than my previous employment, so I took the role.

Everyone was extremely professional and candid. It was obvious to me that there was a concrete and discernible goal from the start, and it put me at ease to know that I wasn't being taken to a dog and pony show. Mike laid out a distinct plan for the position, informing me exactly what I would be getting into and why it was necessary. I understood immediately what the role was, and how it is supposed to fit into the big picture.
Chris gave me a very interesting and sufficiently deep technical overview. I got my chances to speak and ask questions where appropriate, and I walked away with a good understanding of the technical layout and technologies involved without getting mired in detail.
I had a very enjoyable conversation with Bobby. Passion in what the company does and who NDN is and wants to be came across fluidly, and it was very easy to see that a lot of care goes into engineering the product and that people at NDN are truly proud of what they do.
Mimi gave me a very good picture of the culture, and how the process works to find a good fit. We talked at length, not just about where NDN has been and where NDN is going, but how I fit in, and my background, and what my path with the organization could be.
Overall, the process has been painless, likely one of the most confident career decisions I've made. All necessary information has been provided to me without having to chase it down, and it shows, to me, that effort at NDN is not wasted on basic tasks: everyone does exactly what they need to do and then some.

The interview process was comprised of:
- a phone screen conducted by HR
- a telephone technical interview by the Principal Engineer (the interviewer asked a number of open ended questions to assess your problem solving abilities)
- a several hour, onsite interview with development team & HR staff (there were 2 technical interviews held in a room with a whiteboard used for coding solutions to questions)
- another onsite visit to have lunch with executive management (this phase of the process was used to ascertain if there was a cultural fit)

The games some companies play in terms of trick or gotcha questions were none existent. The most unexpected experience was the time I spent with the HR staff. They combed through my entire resume asking questions about my work history. They were the most professional and prepared HR team I've ever met.
