Applied for their Commercial Banking Associate Program.
First was a phone call with the college recruiter. I was asked to confirm some details like my GPA and was also asked about my salary expectations. Next, I was asked some basic background questions about myself--my previous experiences and what led me to River City Bank. The phone call was 30 mins but a decent portion of it was just the recruiter introducing the bank and other technical details.
After that you take a timed assessment called Wonderlic (you know the one they used for NFL quarterbacks) and a short personality assessment.
There's also a writing assessment at some point. The recruiter said it would be something similar to what you would see from a "business writing" class. I never took a business writing class but thought it was fine. You're given a situational prompt where you work for RCB and have to complete a task that requires writing. I was worried about this part but it's pretty easy. You're given a little over a hour to complete it but it could probably be done in less than that time.
I had 2 interview rounds with credit managers (on different days). I found the interviews to be easy. No situational questions (e.g tell me a time..). They mainly asked about my previous experiences along with questions to probe my personality. For example, they asked whether I preferred working in a team or independently. Each interview was scheduled for 1 hour. I finished a bit early and in the other one I went over time.
There were some softball technical questions. I was asked about the collapse of SVB in 2 interviews. Another q was if I had to choose 1 financial statement which would it be? There were some more but I think I got them because I had some previous experience. If you have read banking guides and/or know basic accounting you should be good.
I had a positive interview experience but I thought the process was on the lengthy side with lots of steps. However, the recruiter was transparent about this from the 1st phone call and updated me within ~1 business day after each step. I was told the entire process takes 3 weeks and that turned out to be an accurate estimate. Unfortunately, I got a call that they were moving on with other candidates. Good luck if you're interviewing for the same position!
