Someone from recruiting reached out to me directly. We messaged back and forth a bit, and then they set up a phone call with me. Then, they moved me forward with a video call conversation with the hiring manager. After that, I had a video call with someone on the team for a "team fit" conversation. Lastly, they flew me out to SF to visit the office and do in-person interviews. It was a really intense day of interviews – lots of one on ones, as well as panel presentations of past work. It took the entire day. I did receive an offer a few days later, and the recruiter followed up and was very helpful in answering questions and helping walk me through the offer letter. The entire process took maybe a month or so, but it was over the holidays, and they gave me lots of room to decide given the break. Overall, the interview process was tough but not overwhelming or pressuring in any way, and I accepted the offer.

I had high expectations because I read about Slack taking pride in its process. It didn't seem to promote getting more diverse candidates in the door. After giving it my best, the rejection felt templated and highly impersonal.
