Entrevista
First, I applied for the summer deadline in August by filling out the online app and submitting a resume and essay explaining why I wanted to be a corps member. Next, I got a phone interview which was awkward because the caller called about ten minutes late so I was very anxious and then she typed the whole time which made an already uncomfortable phone interview even worse. She was a corps member and asked me questions based on my resume and normal interview questions. I was given a few articles to read before the interview, but none of the questions were actually based on them, she just asked me how I felt about them. I made it to the final interview and before that took place I had to fill out an online transcript form and a preference form for my placement grade/subjects and locations. I also had to read more articles and develop a 5 minute teaching lesson for the interview. At the interview, all 8 of the applicants taught their lesson to the rest of us and the two interviewers. Not many finished their lessons ( I did, but I talk fats so idk!). Then we did a group discussion in which we were monitored by the interviewers which sucked because everyone in the group was fighting to be heard and make a good impression. We then did a skills test (like the ACT kind of) which basically tested how well we interpreted data. We also had to answer a few short answer questions about our feelings about tfa, teaching and the educational inequity blah blah blah. Then we broke for lunch and each came back at our chosen times for the face to face interview which was exactly like the phone interview (typing and all) except it was in person, same questions, same awkwardness! Before lunch we were given a scenario in which we would have to act out in the interview.
One would think that if you make it all the way to the final interview, you're in...not true. They like naive people so don't say too much about what you know about TFA besides what they have on their website.

The interview was very different from most interviews but I was definitely well-prepared with the resources that TFA had offered in preparation. My interviewer was very nice and it often felt like a conversation between us about whatever question was asked which was nice.

The interview started with a mock lesson and case study, followed by questions about me and my interest in the position. I prepared slides to present to the interviewer and shared my screen.

You had to complete a demo in front of other candidates as well as recruiters. The demo itself was short and you had flexibility in what you “taught” for your lesson.
