My QA training is not formal, to say the least. I was asked to define some QA testing lingo term, and was not able to. I happened to get close, and was met with "No, try again. What is {qa lingo concept}?" If I don't know the definition for a piece of QA testing lingo the first time, I won't know it the second time you ask. Suggestion: If the candidate doesn't know the definition of some term in the sense of QA testing, provide them with the definition and ask for examples of how they would employ this in the workplace. Knowing this piece of lingo is not critical, but being able to perform it is.
