What trends do you see that would affect video?

Let's look at how video has evolved over time. It all started with TV as the first form of video (not truly live, but pre-packaged and broadcast). This then transitioned from TV -> Live TV (Sports broadcasting for example) -> On-Demand (Netflix) -> Delayed Live (Periscope) -> Facebook Live (Real live unfiltered). This just means that video as a medium is going to become fresher, more impulsive, more real time and more genuine. This has some big implications 1) Nature of media itself: Does media really need to be concentrated with the pros? Why can't anyone be their own news agency. Thinking this might lead to creation of hyperlocal news, fresh content that starts getting produced due to greater availability. 2) Generational: Millenials and Generation Z engage and communicate more with images, videos than text as evidence by the explosion of fluid messaging tools such as whatsapp, messenger and snapchat. This means, that with time, the creation and consumption of both private and public video is going to explode. As a result 3) Monetization: Learning to monetize video well is going to get important. This means Snapchat style native videos (discover, stories) etc become more compelling. Furthermore, thinking of how to monetize frontier video like real time broadcasting will become an opportunity.
