First, I do background research on the technologies if they are new to me so i have some basic understanding of what this position will be doing. I will also research the manager and their team, see their current levels on the team, their career progression, titles from previous companies, technologies used education, industries they worked in, etc. Then i will sit down with the manager to set expectations and discuss the must have skills, interview process, why this position is exciting, etc. I will then bring the manager 10-15 profiles to discuss and make sure i am calibrated on what they are looking for. I will go through the network of the team members, search by degrees, keywords, titles, skills, premier companies, etc.
