1 hour technical phone call, and then an on-sites. One of the on-sites interviews was with the hiring manager. It was pretty clear right from the start the hiring manager reached her decision before the interview really started. She asked me a question and it was also clear she doesn't really understand how to solve her own question. I tried to come up with a solution, but amazingly she didn't really listen and let me try to express it. She was keep asking me to draw some example tree over and over again, and it was clear she doesn't understand even that example very well. Overall it took me more than 20 mins to explain her that the solution she thinks about and the solution I'm trying to develop are the same. Then in the little time I left, I started writing the code. From her reactions, I got the feeling she doesn't even know how to read code very well... last but not least I tried to talk about the complexity of the solution and a few potential improvements, she just didn't really seem to care ... strange isn't it ? ... I think that if these are the manager level on zillow, then zillow isn't a good place for good engineers.
