Met with the publishers for three verticals, Bibles, Academic (CARR), and New Media (now defunct). Also met with manager for the ops team and, separately, met with the team itself. After a long round of such meetings, I had lunch with the hiring manager again, and left for the day. All in all, it was about 4-to-5 hours of interviews and meetings.

I responded to a job board posting that Human Resources followed up by contacting a prior employee of both Zondervan and my prior company. I was contacted for a 30 minute telephone interview and then invited for an on-site interview with 9 managers followed by a dinner meeting with the CFO. A job offer followed 2 days later.
The corporate culture in the Finance team was very intense and hard working including regular 48-52 hour work weeks. Other functional areas had lesser hours and deliverable requirements.

The most difficult question was explaining the degree of Management knowledge compared to the "hands on" skill set. I came from a high level CFO position and Zondervans was a Sr. Director position that was being upgraded to a Vice President level

The initial communication with Zondervan was submitting an online resume. The next communication was a phone interview with Human Resources. There was another phone call to schedule an onsite interview. I interviewed first with a Human Resources representative, the Executive Assistant to the President of the company. I was called back to interview with the Senior Vice President who was looking for an Executive Assistant.
