De Soto takes center stage: The colossal SSOE-designed Panasonic Energy project was just highlighted in Engineering News-Record's Top 400 Sourcebook. Upon completion, this 4.7 million SF standalone plant—the largest investment in Kansas history—will boast a 30 GWh capacity for producing batteries for electric vehicles. This is an exciting spotlight as we inch closer to The Battery Show in Detroit, where we’ll be exhibiting beginning Monday, October 7th.
PRIDE in action: Last month, our PRIDE Employee Resource Group (ERG) hosted a STEM table at the Toledo Pride Festival. PRIDE, which stands for People Respecting Identities, Diversity, and Equality, is an employee-led inclusive community at SSOE that brings together LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies with a shared vision. A key focus of PRIDE is enhancing civic engagement. To this end, members and allies of the ERG dedicated their Friday night to connecting with the local community. ¡Hola from SSOE! In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re excited to introduce ¡HoLA!, one of our newly formed Employee Resource Groups, established earlier this year. An acronym for Hispanic and Latin Allies, ¡HoLA! is committed to empowering our Hispanic / Latin colleagues and providing them with a safe space to express and share the richness of their unique cultures throughout SSOE. This voluntary, employee-led group aims to break down invisible barriers and foster cross-cultural connections by organizing workshops, cultural showcases, and various programs and activities that increase cultural exchange. Latinx individuals form the largest ethnic group in the U.S., contributing immensely to the nation's identity. With a robust presence in Mexico for decades, we operate offices in both Chihuahua and León. We began at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta and Texas A&M University in College Station on Monday, eagerly seeking co-ops / interns and soon-to-be grads to support our growing project needs across multiple sectors. On Tuesday, we headed over to Clemson University for the Technology, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Sciences Career Fair, where we enjoyed chatting with the tenacious Tigers in South Carolina. Today, we’re at Central Michigan University in Midland, rounding out our week at the school’s STEM Career Fair.
