Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Ground Man for Powerline Work to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical distribution and transmission lines. In this vital role, you will assist linemen and crews by performing essential groundwork tasks, ensuring smooth operations on construction sites and utility projects. Duties

• Assist with the setup and teardown of work zones, including rigging and cabling for high-voltage and low-voltage lines
• Support linemen during line installation, repair, and maintenance activities by handling tools, equipment, and materials
• Operate bucket trucks and bucket lifts safely to provide access for overhead line work
• Perform climbing tasks using appropriate safety gear to reach elevated work areas
• Conduct utility locating and blueprint reading to identify underground cables and plan work accordingly
• Support tree trimming activities around power lines to ensure clearance and safety
• Assist with welding, grounding, and other electrical tasks as directed by supervisors

Experience

• Prior experience in construction site work or utility field service is highly desirable
• Knowledge of rigging, cabling, and electrical systems including high voltage and low voltage applications
• Hands-on experience with bucket operation, climbing techniques, and bucket truck use
• Familiarity with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and safety protocols for electrical work
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams accurately
• Experience with utility locating tools such as Ohmmeters and field testing equipment
• Exposure to welding, industrial electrician tasks, or commercial electrician work is a plus
• Strong understanding of safety procedures related to high voltage environments and working at heights
