ABOUT THIS ROLE

We are hiring for our maintenance and stabilization team, working on an existing Java-based system.

• Day-to-day work is primarily bug fixing, troubleshooting, and stabilization of a legacy Java codebase.
• Our team uses AI-assisted coding tools as part of daily workflow — for debugging, code comprehension, and accelerating bug investigation. Comfort with these tools is expected.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Investigate, reproduce, and fix bugs in an existing Java web application.
• Maintain and improve system stability, performance, and reliability.
• Collaborate with QA and our Japan-side engineering team on issue triage and release management.
• Support build, deployment, and release workflows.
• Document fixes and contribute to operational runbooks.
• Participate in shift coverage (AM/PM rotation) to support production operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 2 years of professional experience in Java development.
• Solid understanding of the Spring Framework and/or similar Java web frameworks. Experience with legacy frameworks (e.g., Seasar2) is a plus.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) as part of your development workflow — for debugging, exploring unfamiliar code, generating tests, or refactoring.
• Comfortable reading and debugging unfamiliar codebases — this is the core skill we hire for.
• Proficient with Git (commit, push, pull, merge, branching workflows).
• Strong problem-solving skills and patience for root-cause analysis.
• Effective written communication (English) for working with our Japan-side team.
• Attention to detail and a quality-first mindset.

Nice to have:

• Experience with relational databases (MySQL) and SQL tuning.
• Familiarity with Linux, AWS basics, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Japanese language ability (any level) is a strong plus — JLPT incentives available.
