POSITION SUMMARY
The Grants Manager plays a key role in advancing the mission of the Wellspring Foundation of Southwest Virginia by coordinating the Foundation’s grantmaking activities and supporting strategic initiatives that improve the health, wellbeing, and economic vitality of the region.
This position oversees the full grant administration lifecycle, including application intake, review coordination, compliance, reporting, and impact evaluation. The Grants Manager works closely with the Director of Engagement and leadership team to ensure the Foundation’s grantmaking processes are efficient, transparent, and aligned with its strategic priorities.
In addition to grant administration, the Grants Manager contributes to research and analysis related to community needs, identifies promising programs and partnerships, and supports collaborative initiatives across the Foundation’s service area. The role also assists with project coordination, tracks program outcomes, and supports budgeting and reporting for grantmaking and strategic initiatives.
This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and a commitment to improving the wellbeing of communities in Southwest Virginia.

Grant Management
· Coordinate the Foundation’s grant application and review processes.
· Draft grant agreements in accordance with the Board’s approval.
· Maintain and administer the Foundation’s grant management system and related databases.
· Track grant application cycles, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
· Coordinate internal grant review meetings and prepare materials for leadership and board review.
· Monitor active grants to ensure compliance with funding agreements and reporting obligations.
· Maintain accurate grant records, documentation, and historical funding data.
· Prepare semi-annual and annual grantmaking reports summarizing funding activities and outcomes.
· Develop executive summaries and performance insights for leadership and board presentations.
· Assist with evaluating grant impact and identifying opportunities to improve grant effectiveness.
· Provide Director of Operations with any draft public announcements made by NPOs and GAs regarding Foundation funding for approval.
Community Research and Strategic Program Development
· Research emerging community needs and opportunities within the Foundation’s service area.
· Analyze regional data, community input, and best practices to inform grantmaking priorities.
· Identify potential partnerships and collaborative initiatives that align with the Foundation’s mission.
· Identify successful programs from other communities that may be adapted to Southwest Virginia.
· Assist in coordination of community advisory meetings and other partner meetings.
Project Management and Special Initiatives
· Completion of special projects as requested by the Director of Engagement and/or the Executive Director.
Budget and Financial Coordination
· Assist with tracking budgets associated with grants, programs, and collaborative initiatives.
· Coordinate with the finance team to monitor expenditures and grant allocations.
· Support financial reporting related to grantmaking activities.
Other Responsibilities
· Maintain strict confidentiality regarding grant applications and Foundation activities.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Engagement.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree required
· 3-5 years’ relevant work experience required
· Grant writing/review experience required
· Experience with grant management software or database systems preferred
· Work experience interacting with NPOs preferred
Competencies:
· Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word/Excel/PowerPoint, etc.)
· Good database management skills; experience with grant management software a plus.
· Exceptional oral and verbal communication skills
· Ability to solve problems and think critically
· Ability to work effectively in a collegial, team-oriented environment
· Detail-oriented and well-organized
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Must be able to sit at a desk for 8 hours daily
· Must be able to attend meetings in remote locations regularly

Work is performed primarily in an office. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings; however, some tasks may require visiting partners with different work environments.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
