      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 2 meses. Fui entrevistado pela Amazon (Seattle, WA) em dez. de 2024

      Entrevista

For my first interview, I didn’t like the interviewer. He spoke in very broken English, and it was hard to understand him. He appeared to be reading from the screen the entire time but was unable to connect the conversation smoothly. It felt like I was talking to a robot which made it difficult to relate. Not to mention, he had some audio issues where the sound kept cutting out so much that I couldn’t hear what he was saying. It didn’t really make sense to me, and eventually, it got to the point where I couldn’t even continue the interview, so we had to see about rescheduling. I moved on to the second interview about 30 minutes later. The guy was much better. I could hear him clearly. He did have a strong accent, but I could still understand him, and we had a pretty good back-and-forth. He was a little stiff conversationally, though. It felt like everyone else I interviewed with was uncomfortably hard to talk to; they just weren’t approachable, which I didn’t like. I did my questions with him, and it went pretty well, but I didn’t have time to ask any questions at the end because of how long the technical question took. For the third interview, there were two guys sitting in a room facing each other, and I couldn’t understand them at all. I didn’t know what they were saying. One of them had a really strong Indian accent, and the other guy didn’t speak at all. I told them I couldn’t hear and asked if it was okay for them to repeat themselves because I had trouble hearing the first time. I tried answering the behavioral questions to the best of my ability, but when it came to the technical question, I knew how to answer it. However, I realized I didn’t want to work for Amazon, so I told them that I would like to withdraw my application. I answered the question, we had a conversation about it, and I thanked them for their time and said I really appreciated it.

Tough interview. The Process: Automated Online Assessment (OA) with 2 coding questions and a system simulation, followed by a 4-round virtual Loop. Every single round started with 20 minutes of intense, behavioral behavioral questions diving into Amazon's Leadership Principles, followed by 25 minutes of technical coding or system design. Amazon interviews are a test of mental endurance because you have to switch from deep behavioral storytelling straight into complex coding which can be so difficult. I used Apex Interviewer to practice the cognitive context switch. Running through their live-coding workspace helped me ensure my technical communication and architectural structures remained sharp and automatic, even after spending the first half of the interview defending my past project metrics. I fed the practice AI questions I extracted from glassdoor and gothamloop. In the end, the offer was way lower than I hoped.
