      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 2 meses. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa Glassdoor.

      Entrevista

I had a frustrating experience interviewing with Glassdoor. A two month process ultimately ended with a form letter rejection, which is counter to their effusive speeches on transparency throughout the process. The initial interview with an HR representative was very positive. They do a great job making you very excited about the prospect of working for Glassdoor. They start with a talk on transparency, then get straight to the numbers. This is refreshing and enticing - but that's where the transparency ends, and the obfuscation begins. I was moved forward to an interview with a hiring manager. We had a friendly introductory chat, and everything seemed to go fine. She mentioned she wanted me to move forward to the next phase of the interview, which would be a presentation based on a prompt. I was excited about the verbal confirmation - but then heard nothing from HR for over a week. I had to check in with them, tell them that the hiring manager told me she wanted me to continue in the process, and was then finally forwarded the prompt and meeting invite. Then came the bait and switch. I was about halfway through building my presentation when I got a strange email from HR, asking for a quick 15 minute conversation. We scheduled one for that afternoon - and I was told that this was no longer a Director level position, but being downgraded to a Manager level position. The salary expectations were bumped down quite a bit. I was already about a month into the process, so I told her I'd be happy to continue. A meeting was scheduled with a NEW hiring manager. To be honest, the whole presentation interview felt like a formality. I did not receive the updated job description until a few hours before this call - but I did my best to modify my presentation to stay relevant. After an hour conversation, I was told someone would be in touch in about a week to tell me if I was moving forward to the panel interview. I was then ghosted for several weeks before receiving a form letter rejection. But hey, ghosts are transparent, too, right? I'm a talented guy with some real bona fides, and felt strung along on a futile process. This is my own fault for not stepping away when they changed jobs on me - but their initial sales pitch and transparent compensation plan are a clever marketing ploy, and succeed and building excitement. Here's hoping it's more than smoke and mirrors for the lucky candidate they select!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It was great to hear your introduction to this opportunity was a positive experience. We do understand that the change in position was not expected and it impacted your experience, as a valued candidate, in a negative way. Please know changing this position was not taken lightly. When we landed on this decision, our intention was to be as communicative and transparent as possible. We will continue to look for ways we can improve communication and clarity. We will also seek to ensure changes to jobs, as posted, occur as minimally as possible. - Kelly Levis, Director of Digital Marketing
