I was really disappointed and disheartened with this interview process. I’ve had many colleagues who have joined LinkedIn and current managers who were prior employees of LinkedIn who have gone to great lengths to speak about the amazing culture that LinkedIn is, which prompted me to apply. My interviewer, a senior manager, showed up 15 minutes late to my 30 minute interview and her excuse was that she was on back to back meetings. It was clear that she hadn’t read my resume as she had no idea what my prior roles were - she kept mentioning the company I worked for 3 years ago as my current role and after I corrected her she continued to make the same mistake twice. She then proceeded to throw out arbitrary sales terms and docked me for not being able to regurgitate a sales definition rather than assessing my intellect and experience in a closing role (>4 years as a seller at a SaaS company). Her questions were close ended with the intention of cornering me into a “no” giving me no room to really dive into my professional experience. E.g. “what can you tell me to change my mind about X quality about you”. She also quoted Hubspot to explain most of her talking points and this just pointed to an environment that is not conducive to learning, individual thoughts or creativity. This interview proved to be a great learning experience - this type of leader does NOT have my professional best interests in mind and I would advise anyone against applying for this position as it looks like a role and management that will grind you into the ground with no regard for anything else - professional goals / mental health / growth / commitment to company.
