Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 3 semanas. Fui entrevistado pela Merck em jan. de 2019

      Entrevista

Submitted an application, received an email the next day from a recruiter asking to do a phone screening. Took the phone screening with the recruiter and was then asked via email the next day to come in for an in-person interview. Agreed to come in for the in-person, found out shortly after that it would be a 5 1/2 hour interview with 5 or 6 different individuals. Was interested in the role, so took an entire day off from my current job to come in and meet with the team. Felt like the interviews went very well, was told that I would hear about next steps 1-2 business days later, which is where things got very unprofessional. After not hearing back regarding the outcome of the interview for several days, I reached out to the recruiter for an update. She told me several times that the team was still discussing next steps, and that I would have an answer soon. Recruiter eventually stopped responding to my emails, I still have no idea what the status of the role is..for all I know, I could still be in the running - ha! I find it SO disrespectful to ask a candidate to come in for a 5 1/2 hour day, take off an entire day of work, and then to hear radio silence regarding the interview shortly thereafter. I thought that the 5 1/2 interview for a first in-person was a bit excessive at first, as the screening process really was so quick and vague, but had heard many good things about the company so I didn't have much of an issue taking the time out of my day/work to come in and learn more about the opportunity. Some advice to Merck: If multiple people are expected to interview a candidate, for a role, perhaps group 2-3 associates together at once to speak with the candidate, instead of making a candidate sit and talk through their resume 5-6 different times within a 5 1/2 hour period. Regardless of the outcome of the interview (hire/no hire), be honest and upfront with candidates and keep them in the loop instead of falling off the face of the earth with no explanation! Again, so rude and so disrespectful of my time.

      Entrevista

I would like to give my honest account of my experience with Merck. I had a terrible experience interviewing for Merck, worst than any other job during all my job searches over the years. It took months of back and forth to even get a response from the recruiter after a phone interview. No answer to my email or my call. Just silence. My phone interview in itself lasted 3 minutes and consisted of very few questions. None of these were related to what I was looking for or my experience, and consisted of mostly comments from the interviewer that were somewhat pointed and insulting. Then I finally got the in person interview. I was never given an interview schedule and had to ask for it before I finally got it. I was just given a date and time. This was not something I've seen in the past. The in person interview itself went really well. However it was unprofessional. I was not greeted by anyone at the door in a friendly way but in a rather cold way was just shown to a meeting room and placed there. I was told that I hadn't stayed at my last job very long; unfortunately I had confidential reasons as to why I had left which involved illegal activity from another boss that I am not allowed to dig into. I was a little taken aback as I was asked a few times if I knew people from previous jobs that I didn't actually remember until later or after thinking about it. It also seemed like the interviewers had already decided on the candidate they wanted and had interviewed before me. They were even mentioned during my interview by name. The group of 2 interviewers did not really ask about any of my experience and seemed disinterested from the beginning. One of them pointed out a couple negatives in the position, as if to convince me I didn't want it. A person I recognized was very unprofessional when I was being given the tour and interrupted it to discuss personal matters in front of me with the interviewer. As soon as she saw me, she glared and told my interviewer she "needed to talk" to her. I got very positive feedback in the end. I was told I was in the top two candidates and the hiring manager said I'd for sure hear back from them personally by a certain date but did not. I politely followed up but also did not hear back. It wasn't until I had asked HR weeks later that I got a rejection call from HR and she used the wrong title which was just unprofessional as I did not apply for that job. I was told I'd be notified by the hiring manager but they didn't bother to respond to me or tell me anything. In the end I got no offer and no feedback other than at the interview itself that I did very well. To suddenly hear crickets and be treated so poorly when things had gone well typically makes it clear that favoritism was at play as well as hearsay/gossip from an employee I didn't even remember from years before who saw me as a threat. It was all just so unprofessional it left a bad taste in my mouth for a place that's known for being professional. Unfortunately, this whole process took about 3 months so I had put in wasted effort this whole time. This was my top choice and I was very enthusiastic about this role but in the end I wouldn't have accepted it anyway after being treated so poorly and I went with another job in which I was more respected during the process. I guess Merck Animal Health is very different from the human side.
