I applied from my university for an internship in my second year of study. The recruitment process had two rounds. First was a coding round which had two questions and one hour to solve. The second was an interview with one of the engineers at Microsoft. Both the rounds were easy if you know the basic data structures like heap tree array etc.

coding round: one standard question on min heap had to do something with heapsort. one question where given a board game on a grid, you need to find your path with simple moves as given in the rules and find some quantity like total path length. Interview: Basic cv questions, mention one project and what you did in that. Technical questions were given an array of length n with elements from 0 to n and one element missing in an unsorted manner. tell the missing element. and further questions building up on this only like improving the time complexity and space complexity. what is the time complexity
The hiring process started with an online assessment that focused on problem-solving and coding skills.
After passing the assessment, I was invited to a series of 3 back-to-back technical interviews.
Each interview was primarily centered around data structures and algorithms, with questions similar in style and difficulty to LeetCode problems.
Interviewers also evaluated problem-solving approach, code quality, and the ability to explain thought processes clearly while coding.
Overall, the process was structured, technical, and heavily focused on algorithmic problem solving and communication skills.

Interviewer was intrested in my Open source work for first 25 min where I told him about my GSoC work which was about decompression and asked a simple dsa question about trees. And asked follow ups like print it without storing it in a vector of vector.
