Upon finding the job req online - I proactively identified the recruiting mgr, contacted her and simultaneously asked an SFDC colleague to help push from the inside. Had 2 "HR" interviews and upon passing those, HR explained the forward process in detail. They laid out the timing, approach, and checkpoints - and the process played exactly how she said it would. (there were a couple minor delays due to folks' travel schedules - but communication was always forthcoming and timely).
