      Entrevista

Absolutely horrible interview process. Uber claims to have a new face - but you can clearly tell something is wrong in their operations by how little they value prospective hires. Here is a timeline of events that happened for me: 1) Started conversations with Uber - and had a call scheduled for mid October. Interviewer did not show up to my first interview and I had to follow-up. 2) Had my first round interview a few days later- passed and took my technical assessment - passed that as well. 3) I received confirmation on 10/30 that I was through to the next round. 4) I followed up 3 times and did not hear back until 11/11 (~2 week gap) where I was told something will be scheduled asap 5) On 11/13 I was scheduled, with less than 24 hours notice to an interview, at a time I never said I could make. That really shocked me - I've never had an interview scheduled to a time that wasn't previously confirmed by me. Uber just assumed I was free at this time. I had to shift a lot around on my plate to make that happen and started "cramming" for my interview. Additionally, I was simply given the name of the person I was interviewing with. I was not told this would be my future boss, and likely the most important interview I have. I would have absolutely pushed this interview if given that information. 6) My interviewer showed up to my 30 minute interview late, compacted our already short time together, and refused to give me extra time. I got to speak SO little about myself or why I cared about this opportunity I feel that the combination of the things above truly put me at a disadvantage to other candidates (unless all candidates face these same challenges) and made for one of my less memorable interviews. Interviews are challenging enough on their own and a serious candidate put a lot of heart / effort / thought / time into this process. It would be awesome to feel that reciprocated on the opposite side. Scheduling, timeliness, and informing the interviewee of functional relation to the interviewer are key areas that IMO - should always be clearly communicated to the applicant. These were huge red flags to general operational issues this company faces. Glad things turned out the way they did.

First recruiter screen, then Analytical test, then 2 rounds of interview with GM. Pass all the tests and 1st round of GM interview, did very well. 2nd round of GM interview was very simple question, just go through my resume and work history. But I felt he has pre-determined opinion towards some part of my work experience, didn't ask any question about behavioral, or fit, or Uber situational, just my past experience. I felt he already pre-determined even before the interview, then just use the interview to validate his opinion.

In a particular time (2 hour window), back-of-envelop calculation of how many driver need? Pricing EV ? Incentive structure pros and cons, etc -- with 1st round of GM interview 2nd GM interview was just simply go through working experience.

      Candidatura

Candidatei-me por indicação de um funcionário. O processo levou 4 semanas. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa Uber.

      Entrevista

Similar to any Ops or GM role at the company, there was a phone screen, an excel test, a creativity test, and in-person interviews. HR was nice and usually pretty responsive, but wasn't familiar with the details when I asked questions about the tests. The biggest issue I had was with the final round. I was told it would take about 3 hrs, but when it was scheduled, it was only for 1.5 hrs. It was scheduled 1 day prior (luckily I had already prepped). It was a panel with 5 people, and we started late waiting for people. Then, instead of getting into the presentation, I was told to go through my resume because one of the panelists didn't know anything about me. You'd think the previous interviews would have shared a summary. So now instead of 1.5 hrs for the presentation, I had about 1 hr. The presentation I thought it went well. I didn't get the offer, which I am fine with if I'm not qualified, but the feedback from HR was that I didn't talk enough about forecasting (not a topic in the instructions). I had monthly and quarterly goals, but if I'm hiring someone, I would obviously ask them in the interview about a topic I thought important. That didn't happen. I was also told my personality and experience was a great fit for Uber, potentially for another role. I found another role that I brought to HRs attention and got no response. I probably spent a solid 40-50 hrs in total for prep and doing the tests, interviews for what I felt like was poor planning and poor feedback. I have interviewed through all the rounds with and even worked for the likes of McKinsey and early stage startups and while their hiring wasn't perfect, I didn't have issues like these.
