Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 5 dias. Fui entrevistado pela Uber (Sydney) em mai. de 2020
Entrevista
Submitted my CV which is reasonably well suited to the role so I was put forward to complete a pre-test (data analysis and visualisation). I spent around two hours of my time completing the test and it wasn't too difficult so I was asked to meet with the recruiter.
First screen was with a junior recruiter who progressed me to a more senior recruiter.
The senior recruiter didn't show up for the first interview and I sat there for an hour waiting on Zoom.
The second time we arranged, she was 15 minutes late and seemed to be reviewing my CV as she started the call. After 2 minutes she said I would be better suited for a different role and ended the call 5 minutes in saying the junior recruiter would reach out to me again.
I didn't hear from Uber again and was very dissatisfied that I wasted hours of my time for no reason.

Initial phone screen interview > zoom call with hiring manager > move on to case study/presentation > panel
First two interviews went well. Asked to provide background information then answered two generic questions (how do you use data and describe a situation where you had to make a difficult decision). Was not moved on to next phase.

Internal recruiter was good - communicative and sent a lot of helpful details on the process, expectations, and interviewers. Was sent a take home case study to complete after the initial conversation with the hiring manager. I would estimate that I put in about 40 hours of work into the case study. Up until this point, my experience with the interview process was generally positive. However, despite the amount of time and effort I invested into the case study, I found the panel of 3 interviewers during the final round highly disengaged during my presentation. I could see from the get-go that some members of the interview panel were staring out the window as I was presenting and, when it came time to their Q&A on my case study, I was lobbed a couple of softball questions (that I not only had prepared responses for, but entire pages in the appendix that directly answered their questions). When it was turned over to me to ask them questions, they cut me short to end the video call. It was clear to me that they had already made up their minds on my candidacy before the interview began. Given the amount of time and effort put into the case study, it would have been nice if they at least pretended to engage with me as I was presenting and gauge if there is anything here that might change minds. If the team had already made up their minds about my candidacy and my case interview wasn't going to change their minds, I'd have preferred if they had just cancelled the interview - it seems an immense professional discourtesy to waste an hour of 4 people's time just to 'go through the motions' on an interview process. I received feedback on my case study not being "detailed" enough, although I flatly reject that as valid feedback - if my case study was inadequately detailed, I shouldn't have been receiving softball questions that I could answer without pause.

Why Uber? Why this role? Anything interesting about our strategy from the last few days? Anything of note from a strategic perspective from our most recent earnings report? What are 3 partnerships we should engage in to support our re-entry into the German market? What are the hero KPIs we should be tracking to understand whether we are achieving this strategic objective? If a friend asked if Uber stock was worth investing in, what would you say?
